Most sore throats clear up on their own, but some are caused by a bacterial infection that needs treating. Through the NHS Pharmacy First service our pharmacist can assess your symptoms and supply antibiotics where they are appropriate.
The service is available for anyone aged 5 and over, with no GP appointment or referral needed. We will check your temperature and examine your throat in a private consultation room, then either supply treatment, recommend something over the counter or refer you on if you need further care. Appointments are free on the NHS and usually available the same day.
